with CONTEMPORARY DANCE HEAT WAVE
Miami, FL (July 22, 2018) – The Peter London Global Dance Company (PLGDC), Miami’s iconic contemporary dance company, returns to the Coral Gables Museum on Saturday, August 4, 2018 with an exciting performance titled CONTEMPORARY DANCE HEAT WAVE featuring a group of solo performances titled "Women for Women Dances” celebrates the creativity of women composers who were met with resistance in their goal of freedom to compose, perform and have their works performed. The pieces are choreographed by Peter London and guest choreographers Justin Rapaport (Ballet BC. Vancouver), Jacqueline Bulnes (José Limón Dance Company, New York), and Melissa Fernandez (Ballet Hispanico, NY).
The one-time performance is at 7:00 p.m.; guests are invited to mix and mingle with the artists following the performance. Refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Tickets are $10 and available for purchase online through www.plgdc.org and on Eventbrite http://bit.ly/HeatWavePLGDC or at the door starting at 6:00 p.m. on August 4, 2018.
“The raw energy of the PLGDC dancers is unparalleled in South Florida, and it is our goal to offer varied audiences a unique dance experience and exposure to cutting-edge contemporary dance by our own South Florida talent,” comments PLGDC Founder and Artistic Director Perter London. London founded the company in 2011 with a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to educate and train local dancers and present new works by local choreographers who have not had the opportunity to professionally realize their tremendous gifts. Many of these dancers have launched careers around the country and world but return to Miami where London provides a home base and spring board for both established and new talent.
CONTEMPORARY DANCE HEAT WAVE is a prelude to the PLGDC’s year-end performances at the Adrienne Arsht Center, which, this year, will center on a timely celebration of women and their contributions to the arts. The company will perform WOMEN'S VOICES and MEN'S HEARTS TO WOMEN in the Carnival Studio Theater at the Adrienne Arsht Center from December 28, 29 & 30, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee performance also on December 29th at 2 p.m.. Tickets will go on sale in September at www.arshtcenter.org.
